Solution

Let, the numbers be $x, 2 x, \frac{2}{3} x$

Average $=\frac{x+2 x+\frac{2}{3} x}{3} \Rightarrow \frac{11 x}{9}=44$

$\therefore \quad x=\frac{44 \times 9}{11}=36$

So, the numbers are $36,\,72$ and $24$

Hence, the largest one is $72.$
