7.Profit and Loss
hard
A men bought apples at the rate of $8$ for $Rs.\, 34$ and sold them at the rate of $12$ for $Rs.\, 57 .$ How many apples should be sold to earn a net profit of $Rs.$ $45 ?$
A
$90$
B
$100$
C
$135$
D
$150$
Solution
$C.P. =Rs. \frac{34}{8} ; \quad S.P. =Rs. \frac{57}{12}$
Let $x$ be the number of apples sold
$\therefore \quad 45=(\text { S.P. }-\text { C.P.) } x$
or $x=\frac{45}{ S.P. – C.P. }=\frac{45}{\frac{57}{12}-\frac{34}{8}}=\frac{45}{\frac{114-102}{24}}=\frac{45 \times 24}{12}=Rs. 90$
