7.Profit and Loss
hard
A person sells $36$ oranges per $Rs.\, 1$ and makes a loss of $4 \% .$ Find how many oranges per $Rs$ to be sold to have a gain of $8 \% ?$
A
$\frac{1}{32}$
B
$5$
C
$\frac{1}{16}$
D
None of these
Solution
We have,
$S.P _{1}=$ Selling price of one orange $=₹ \frac{1}{36}$
$x=-4, y=8$
Using the formula, $\frac{ S.P _{1}}{100+x}=\frac{ S.P _{2}}{100+y}$
we get, $\frac{1 / 36}{100-4}=\frac{ S.P. _{2}}{100+8} \Rightarrow S.P _{2}=\frac{108}{96} \times \frac{1}{36}=\frac{1}{32}$
