3. Coordinate Geometry
medium
A point lies on the $x$ -axis at a distance of $7\, units$ from the $y$ - axis. What are its coordinates? What will be the coordinates if it lies on $y$ -axis at a distance of $-7\, units$ from $x$ - axis?
Option A
Option B
Option C
Option D
Solution
The given points lies on the $x$-axis. The distance of this points from $y$ -axis is $7$ units and from $x$ -axis is $0.$ So, its coordinates are $(7,0).$
If it lies on $y$ – axis, then the distance of it from $y$ – axis is $0$ and that of from $x$ -axis is $7$ units.
So, its coordinates are $(0,7).$
