A shopkeeper buys $144$ items at $90$ paisa each. On the way $20$ items are broken. He sells the remainder at $RS.\,1.20$ each. His gain percent correct to one place of decimal is
A
$13.8$
B
$14.6$
C
$14.8$
D
$15.8$
Solution
$20$ items are broken out of $144$ items.
$\therefore$ $C.P.$ of $124$ items.
$=₹\left(\frac{144 \times 90}{100}\right)=₹ 129.60$
Total $S.P.$ $=₹(1.20 \times 124)=Rs. 148.8$
$\therefore \quad$ Gain $=₹(148.80-129.60)=₹ 19.20$
$\therefore \quad$ Gain percent $=\frac{19.20}{129.60} \times 100=14.8 \%$
