Assertion : The antibodies separted from serum are homogenous.
Reason : Monoclonal antibodies are homogenous immunological reagents.
If both Assertion and Reason are correct and the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion.
If both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not a correct explanation of the Assertion.
If the Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect.
If both the Assertion and Reason are incorrect.
Solution
From hyperimmunized animals, the blood serum may be taken and antibodies may be isolated from this serum. However, the antibodies, whenever separated from serum after induction due to an antigen, are usually heterogenous, because the cells keep on producing a variety of antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies (Mabs), on the other hand are homogeneous immunological reagents of defined specificity so that these can be utilized for diagnosis and screening of disease.
