medium
Ovulation in mammals is caused by
A
$FSH$ and $TSH$
B
$FSH$ and $LH$
C
$FSH$ and $LTH$
D
$LTH$ and $LH$
(AIIMS-1990)
Solution
(b) Graafian follicle develops under influence of $FSH$ of anterior pituitary.
Its follicular cells secrete estrogen.
Rising level of estrogen decreases production of $FSH$ and stimulates secretion of $LH$.
The two cause the mature graafian follicle to rise to the ovarian surface and burst open releasing ovum.
