easy
The chance of throwing a total of $7$ or $12$ with $2$ dice, is
A
$\frac{2}{9}$
B
$\frac{5}{9}$
C
$\frac{5}{{36}}$
D
$\frac{7}{{36}}$
Solution
(d) Total number of outcomes $ = 36$,
For sum $= 7$, favourable outcomes are $6$
$i.e.,$ $(6, 1); (5, 2); (4, 3); (3, 4); (2, 5); (1, 6)$
For sum $= 12$, favourable outcome is only $1$ $i.e.,$ $ (6, 6)$
$\therefore$ Probability $ = \frac{6}{{36}} + \frac{1}{{36}} = \frac{7}{{36}}$.
