A car starting from rest and moves such that it possesses average speeds $5 \,ms^{-1}, 10\, ms^{-1}$ and $15\, ms^{-1}$ in the first, second and third seconds. What is the total  distance covered by the car in these three seconds ?.........$m$

Solution

$ \mathrm{S}_{1} =\mathrm{v}_{\mathrm{av}} \times \mathrm{t}_{1}$

$\mathrm{S}_{1} =5 \times 1=5 \mathrm{m}$

$\mathrm{S}_{2} =\mathrm{v}_{\mathrm{av}} \times \mathrm{t}_{2}$

$=10 \times 1=10 \mathrm{m}$

$\mathrm{S}_{3}=\mathrm{v}_{\mathrm{av}} \times \mathrm{t}_{3}$

$=15 \times 1=15 \mathrm{m}$

$\mathrm{S}_{\mathrm{T}}=\mathrm{S}_{1}+\mathrm{S}_{2}+\mathrm{S}_{3}=5+10+15=30 \mathrm{m}$
