medium
A shopkeeper expects a gain of $22 \frac{1}{2} \%$ on his cost price. If in a week, his sale was of $Rs. \,392$ what was his profit? (in $Rs$)
A
$18.20$
B
$70$
C
$72$
D
$88.25$
Solution
Let his profit be $Rs$ $x$.
cost price $\times\left(1+\frac{22.5}{100}\right)=$ Selling price $=Rs. 392$
$\therefore$ cost price $=\frac{392 \times 100}{122.5}=\frac{392 \times 1000}{1225}=320$
$\therefore \quad$ Profit $= S . P. – C.P. =392-320=Rs. 72$
