7.Profit and Loss
medium
A shopkeeper sells a badminton racket, whose marked price is $Rs.\, 30$, at a discount of $15 \%$ and gives a shuttle cock costing $Rs.$ $1.50$ free with each racket. Even then he makes a profit of $20\%.$ His cost price per racket is (in $Rs$)
A
$19.75$
B
$20$
C
$21$
D
$21.25$
Solution
Marked price $=Rs.30$
$S.P.$ after discount of $15 \%=0.85 \times 30 \quad=Rs. 25.5$
Less cost of shuttle cock (free) worth $Rs. 1.50=-1.5$
Net price $=Rs. 24.00$
$24=$ C.P. $\times 1.2$
or $C.P.$ $=\frac{24}{1.2}=Rs. 20$
