A weightless thread can bear a tension upto $3.7\,kg-wt$ . A stone of mass $500\,g$ is tied to it and revolved in a circular path of radius $4\,m$ in a vertical plane. If $g = 10\,ms^{-2}$, then the maximum angular velocity of the stone will be ......... $rad\,s^{-1}$
A
$4$
B
$16$
C
$\sqrt {21}$
D
$2$
Solution
$\mathrm{T}_{\max }=\mathrm{mr} \omega^{2}+\mathrm{mg}$
$3.7 \times 10=0.5 \times 4 \omega^{2}+0.5 \times 10$
$\Rightarrow \quad \omega^{2}=\frac{32}{2}=16$
$\Rightarrow \quad \omega=4$ rad $s^{-1}$
