Similarities between Chromosomes and Genes :

$(i)$ Both occur in pairs. $(ii)$ Both segregate during the time of gamete formation such that only one of each pair is transmitted to a gamete.(because of meiosis) $(iii)$ Pairs segregate independently of each other in both.
