7.Profit and Loss
hard
The cash difference between the selling prices of an article at a profit of $4 \%$ and $6 \%$ is $Rs.\, 3.$ The ratio of the two selling price is
A
$51: 52$
B
$52: 53$
C
$51: 53$
D
$52: 55$
Solution
Let $Rs.$ $x$ be the cost price.
$\therefore \quad x \times\left\{\left(1+\frac{6}{100}\right)-\left(1+\frac{4}{100}\right)\right\}=Rs. 3$
i.e. $x\left\{\frac{6-4}{100}\right\}=Rs. 3$
$\therefore$ $x=\frac{3 \times 100}{2}=Rs. 150$
$\therefore \quad$ Ratio of selling price $=\frac{150 \times 1.04}{150 \times 1.06}=\frac{52}{53}$
$\therefore \quad$ Required ratio $=52: 53$
