7.Profit and Loss
medium
A person sells a colour $T V$ at $10 \%$ below the cost price. Had he received $Rs.\,1494$ more, he would have made a profit of $12 \frac{1}{2} \% .$ What was the cost price of the colour $TV?$ (in $Rs.$)
A
$6400$
B
$7200$
C
$6640$
D
None of these
Solution
Here, $S.P _{-1}- S.P _{-2}=-72, x=5, y=13$
Using the formula,
$\frac{ C.P. }{100}=\frac{ S.P _{1}- S.P _{2}}{x-y}$
we get, $\frac{ C.P. }{100}=\frac{-1494}{-10-25 / 2}=\frac{1494}{45 / 2}$
$\Rightarrow \quad CP =\frac{1494 \times 2 \times 100}{45}=Rs. 6640$
