7.Profit and Loss
medium
A fair price shopkeeper makes $10 \%$ profit on his goods. He lost $20 \%$ goods during theft. His. loss percent is
A
$8$
B
$10$
C
$11$
D
$12$
Solution
Let $C.P.$ of goods be $Rs. x / e a c h$
$\therefore \quad$ Total $C.P. =Rs. x \times y$
$S.P$ for $\frac{4 y}{5}$ items $=1.1 x \times \frac{4 y}{5}$
$S.P.$ $=\frac{4.4}{5} x y$
$\therefore \quad \operatorname{loss} \%=\frac{\text { C.P. }-\text { S.P. }}{\text { C.P. }} \times 100$
$=\frac{x y-\frac{4.4}{5} x y}{x y} \times 100$
$=\left(1-\frac{4.4}{5}\right) \times 100=\frac{0.6}{5} \times 100=12 \%$
