7.Profit and Loss
medium
A shopkeeper allows $23 \%$ commission on his advertised price and still makes a profit of $10 \%$. If he gains $Rs.\,56$ on one item. His advertised price of the item, in $Rs.$ is
A
$820$
B
$780$
C
$790$
D
$800$
Solution
Let, the advertised price be $₹ x$ Then, $S.P.$ $=₹ \frac{77 x}{100}$
Therefore, $C.P.$ $=₹\left(\frac{77 x}{100}-56\right)$
$\therefore \quad \frac{77 x-5600}{100}=\frac{110}{100}=\frac{77 x}{100}$
$\Rightarrow \frac{77 x-5600}{100}=\frac{77 x}{110}=\frac{7 x}{10}$
$\Rightarrow 77 x-5600=70 x$
$\Rightarrow 77 x-70 x=5600$
$\Rightarrow 7 x=5600$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{5600}{7}=Rs. 800$
