(b) Carbon dating has been used to determine the age of upto $45000$ yr (i e, of the order of $10^{4}$ yr ) old rocks and fossils. For dating still older, Potassium-Argon method is widely used because radioactive potassium is found almost in all rocks and fuels and their rate of losing radioactivity is very slow.
