If $(x+1, y-2)=(3,1),$ find the values of $\mathrm{x}$ and $\mathrm{y}$.

A

$2,3$

B

$2,3$

C

$2,3$

D

$2,3$

Solution

Since the ordered pairs are equal, the corresponding elements are equal.

Therefore $\quad x+1=3$ and $y-2=1$

Solving we get $\quad x=2$ and $y=3$
