7.Profit and Loss
hard
A man bought some fruits at the rate of $16$ for $Rs. 24$ and sold them at the rate of $8$ for $Rs$ $18.$ What is the profit percent?
A
$25$
B
$40$
C
$50$
D
$60$
Solution
$C.P.$ of fruits $=Rs. 24 / 16=Rs. 3 / 2$
$S.P.$ of fruits $=Rs. 18 / 8=Rs. 9 / 4$
Profit $\%=\frac{\text { S.P. }-\text { C.P. }}{\text { C.P. }} \times 100$
$=\frac{\frac{9}{4}-\frac{3}{2}}{\frac{3}{2}} \times 100=\frac{\frac{(9-6)}{4}}{\frac{3}{2}} \times 100$
$=\frac{\frac{3}{4}}{\frac{3}{2}} \times 100=\frac{3}{4} \times \frac{2}{3} \times 100=50 \%$
