Work done $W=F S \cos \theta$
where $\theta$ is the angle between $F$ and $S$.
If $\theta=90^{\circ} \Longrightarrow W =0$
Thus the work done by a force will be zero if the object moves in a direction perpendicular to the direction of applied force.
Displacement of the body revolving in a circular path is along the tangent whereas centripetal force acts radially inwards i.e they are perpendicular to each other.
Hence, work done in this case by the centripetal force is zero.
