Solution
Aqueous solution of $AlCl _3$ is acidic as it gives $HCL$ on hydrolysis.
$AlCl _3+3 H _2 O \rightarrow Al ( OH )_3+ HCl$
On strongly heating $Al ( OH )_3$ is converted into $Al _2 O _3$.
$Al ( OH )_3 \rightarrow Al _2 O _3+3 H _2 O$
$AlCl _3$ on heating gives $Al _2 O _3$.
