${e^2} = \frac{{{a^2} + {b^2}}}{{{a^2}}}$

$e_1^2 = \frac{{{b^2} + {a^2}}}{{{b^2}}}$ 

$\frac{1}{{e_1^2}} + \frac{1}{{{e^2}}} = 1$.
