यदि दो घटनाओं में $P(A \cup B) = 5/6$, $P({A^c}) = 5/6$, $P(B) = 2/3,$ तब $A$ तथा $B$ होंगी

A

स्वतंत्र (Independent) घटनायें

B

परस्पर अपवर्जी (Mutually exclusive) घटनायें

C

परस्पर सम्पूर्ण (Mutually exhaustive) घटनायें

D

परतंत्र (Dependent) घटनायें

Solution

(b) $P(A{^c}) = 1 – P(A)$ $ \Rightarrow $ $P(A) = \frac{1}{6}$

अब $P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A \cap B)$

$⇒  \frac{5}{6} = \frac{1}{6} + \frac{2}{3} – P(A \cap B)$ $⇒ P(A \cap B) = 0$

अत: घटनाएँ $A$ तथा $B$ परस्पर अपवर्जी है।
